Holmenkollen Park Hotel

Move from Oslo town to the mountain area today and this is the only hotel there.

View from my room on 2nd floor. The entire city is in view, stunning.

Sunset (view from room)...

This hotel is ridiculous. I tried to go for lunch on a lonely afternoon and the only restaurant (which serves breakfast) open is not serving lunch. I understand there is a conference going on but how can a hotel not serve lunch??? I'd asked for the lunch menu and they just say sorry, they don't serve lunch as they have sandwiches prepared for the conference attendees!!! What about the tourist guests???

I am astonished by the service as this is a well established and famous hotel in Oslo. No restaurant, no cafe, no room service (only starts at 4pm) and I am starving. I can't go to the city just for lunch as taxi ride (no train) costs about SGD100!!!

I end up crunching chocolates in the room.

*mental note : no more mountain accommodation in Oslo*

Nobel Peace Center

Call me ignorant but I didn't know Nobel Peace Center is in Oslo. Loads of Mandela.

D/S Louise Restaurant & Bar

This restaurant is in Oslo and gosh... the restaurant is like a nautical museum!!!

This is my lunch. It is a seafood platter for ONE!

Needless to say I shared this. How to possibly have a platter like this on my own.

... and dessert is one of the best Creme Brulee I ever had... with Baileys.

A restaurant with great food, setting, service and character. Zoom in to read the comments on the dessert page.

On a side note - YES! First time in Oslo, Norway and I spend time catching up with my primary school mate. I know her since 8. We had a smashing time together. I didn't go to this restaurant with her though.

Honeybee

Hundreds (or thousands???) of bees are poisoned and killed today. The hive destroyed and this picture shows the honeycomb collected. Sorry bees...

Snakeskin?

I am shopping.

NOoooooo, not for a bag.

This is a wall tile lah. Looks like snakeskin (or honeycomb) and is concrete finishes, not leather. Fool you...

Bee-Bee

Mad excited when I see this. This is the snack (I call it tibits) I always have when I was in primary school. *Nom nom*

December Rains 雨季

Had managed to convince Mr D to watch this with me and he totally enjoy it.

Kit Chan is really good in theatre play and every time I watch her I'll pinch myself for missing The Forbidden City. I hope it will run again.

National Day Long Weekend

Too late to plan a short getaway hence grab a promotion by Capella Sentosa Singapore.

Check-in 06th, check-out 09th. 3 nights in a villa (plan below). I like the outdoor bath and shower area but think the plunge pool is.... uhmmmmm... pointless? Bigger than a tub but smaller than a pool. Not that I can swim but can't even do a lap in it.

It may sound posh to quarantine in Sentosa villa but hey, I didn't want it, I am STILL under quarantine! I can't walk around the island, can't enjoy Luge, can't try Megazip, so DEPRESSING. I rather stay at home. :(

I did take the opportunity to finish one whole book - Carrie's Diaries - a prequel to Sex & the City.

Chickety Chickety Pox

28 Jul (wed) - f**k! Why is there a zit below my tummy? Must be the "time-of-the-month" soon and there's no where else the zits can pop! Argh...

29 Jul (thurs) - looks like I can pop it. *squeeze* Ouch, is it coming out? Eh? Why is there another one 2cm away? Argh... And three on my face quickly appearing. Argh... Argh...

30 Jul (fri) - The ONE on my face has turned volcano like. *squeeze hard* Ok, it flattens a bit. 6th surface and this time above my belly button. Wait a minute! One more on my back and another on my upper arm. Grossed to the max. What's wrong with me?

Few hours of itch later, I suspect these are not zits, they CAN BE chickenpox! I have to google NOW!

Red spots - checked
They itch - checked
Turn blisters - some
Fever - unchecked
Loss of appetite - that'll be good but unchecked
Body aches - BIG checked

Oh dear! Is it chickenpox or not? It is contagious right? I have dinner tonight. Do I need to cancel?

A smart-alec told me if it is really chickenpox, it is not contagious anymore when spots made their appearance. *roll eyes and scratch head*

31 Jul (sat) - feel slightly feverish. The temperature goes up and down. Another dinner tonight! I felt extremely tired and new spots (not many) keep appearing and old spots still itch. Applied calamine lotion all over.

01 Aug (sun) - Finally seeing a doc. Doc says most likely is chickenpox. Prescribe some painkiller, anti-viral and itch control medicine. Advise self-quarantine for a week and strictly no scratching. Warn that it can turn complicated and infect the lungs!

Boohoohoo... I am aching everywhere. I am lethargic. I am so uncomfortable. I just want to lie down and sleep. I am hungry (who says I'll lose my appetite). AND the one and only person next to me CANNOT understand.

WHEN IS IT GOING TO TURN CRUST AND DROP OFF SO I CAN GO OUT?

Moulin Rouge

Not the movie but the cabaret cum restaurant in Paris, France. Everyone should watch this once in a lifetime.

The Full Monty

The first production by Pangdemonium! - a Singapore’s newest and most exciting theatre company, dedicated to bringing stories to life on the stage in the most dynamic way. Also a baby of Adrian Pang (a familiar face in Mediacorp) and his wife, Tracie Pang.

The 2 junior Pangs are part of the cast and they rotate the role as Nathan. Hossan Leong is hilarious as usual and what really surprise me is - Adrian Pang can sing VERY WELL.

I know he has been a theatre actor in UK before he relocates to Singapore but I sort of ignore that fact when I see him in Channel 8 shows. He struggles when he speaks Mandarin hence he always look a bit weird on TV.

Now I see him on stage and if you did as well, you will agree with me he belongs there but never the box. Go go Adrian... GO!

*slaps his bum in imagination*

Black or blue?

Received blue but change for black.

Not that the color matters but it's the design lah.

VOWS to keep

A marriage certificate (not sign by bride and groom and witnesses at all) and a folder will be given when one couple registers a solemnization date. The folder says :-

... and how wonderful if one can stay true to it.

Birthday Cake with a double punch

This is a surprise I wasn't expecting. It is not a big deal to receive a birthday cake on my birthday, but IT IS when I have none from this sender... ever. My first and hopefully not the last.

I save my slice of cake till the next day so I can take a proper picture of it. See what is on the chocolate sign!

Hair Spray and Pins

I googled this hairstyle and pass on the idea to the hairstylist - Ivy. It took a lot of hair spray and pins to make it work. Sticky and heavy is all.

The flower is REAL. I took it off the plant on the room's desk.

Gel Nails

Yeap, these are my fingers with fanciful sparkling nails. This is the first time I do these to my nails (I'm a firm believer of 'real' nails not 'fake') and the whole process took me 2 hours.

Guess why I did it?

My bag is bleeding!

I got this bag in February and have only use it twice.

Recently, I carry this with me during my Liverpool trip but after a few days, the shoulder strips start bleeding and my beige jacket is stained in pink! I'M NOT HAPPY. I know I can get rid of the stains easily but a bag made from a reputable brand should not be bleeding! Now it does, I won't use it anymore and I won't have it lying around for nothing.

*mental note - I will write to them when I get back*

Results!

I sent the U.S. office an email and they suggest I talk to the local store. I did just that and the store offers to replace a new one. Great service. I do however reject that offer as I see no point replacing the same as I may risk it bleeding again. The store totally accept my view and gladly offer to replace it with another item of the same value.

What really impress is, I walk around the store and find nothing I like and the store suggest I can choose again when the new season arrives. SUPER impressed.

I got what I want 2 weeks later and walk out of the shop with a huge smile on my face. :)

*both thumps up for the Takashimaya outlet*

Tears for Fears

My first visit to Resort World... not to the casino or Universal Studio... but for Tears for Fears' concert.

Curt Smith is so cute I thought he is gay (Nah, he is married) and Roland Orzabal has a wonderful voice and perform great in live. Can't say the same for Smith though.

What most impress me this night is Orzabal sings his version of Billie Jeans in solo. I tried to get a S'pore version off youtube but they are all of bad quality. See this version from HongKong concert.

HongKong Sevens 2010

This is my 3rd of the annual event. It is always during the last weekend of every March. This year is from 26 to 28th March.

I have a lot more pictures to post but wait till I get around it. They are still in my camera. ;-p

The Leela Kempinski - Gurgaon New Delhi

We were upgraded when we checkin and was told the room is of a bigger size as it is attached with a balcony.

My thoughts - who needs a balcony when it is 40°C out there day and night! Delhi is a DESERT!

this old cow!

When I was told we are taking this old cow to the airport, my jaws almost drop. *huh*

Three of us – 1 small (that’s me), 1 medium, 1 large, how are we going to fit into this tiny old cow?

*stepping back* Hold on? What about our luggage? We have 4 pieces, all pulleys.
I don’t want my luggage strap to the top of this old cow. (From my previous experience I gain a wet luggage.)

We did manage to squeeze everyone and everything in. The only place to rest my hands is on my thighs. I can’t even bend to see my feet! I am constantly worried it will break down in the middle of the forever chaotic traffic, and I’ll be force to get down and cornered by the street beggars. *cold sweat dripping off my forehead*

Thankfully nothing of those happened in the 20-min ride. Unfounded worries. *phew*

Took this picture when the driver is unloading the luggage. Off to Delhi now.

PS: Mumbai domestic airport is so much better than its international airport. Strange.

Fortune Cookie in Mumbai

I am not a believer but see what I've got (the top one is mine).

Ming Yang - The Chinese restaurant at Taj Lands End, surprisingly serve very nice food compare to the previous Taj I've stayed.

Taj Lands End - Mumbai

Reached the hotel last night.

Gosh, outside is HOT (37°C) and HUMID. Not going out.

The view from the room is the grey sea and unsightly construction.

This ‘torn’ building was a hotel and Taj Group bought it. They are tearing it down to build another wing for Taj Lands End. Heard they will build a bridge as link.

I like the size of the bathroom. With a glass panel dividing the bathroom and bedroom, the bathroom feels bright and spacious. Feel different as the view of the room is right in front (!) of me while I'm washing up at the sink. I kept looking for the mirror! Hahaha.

I have seen and used this kind of toilet many times but I didn’t expect they have it in Mumbai too. Heated seat and 37°C outside?

And a notepad by the toilet bowl??? *laughing*

Nice touch. Maybe many ideas and inspirations do pop while something else is popping out! Let me try...

See what I've found!

SEE... see… I knew I still have it. *tongue sticking out*

My first car’s Season Parking tickets and road tax.
It was a Charade (I think)!
Color? Can’t remember but recall it’s ugly.
Who cares? The car only costs me one grand.

EM4528R -Car plate number is so retro.

Wow, it is almost nine years. Ok, bin.

Farewell pics of old trusted horse

Dear Nissan Sunny

It is time to bid farewell. We have been together for 5 years and you are really quite a ride.

Your tone wasn’t ideal for or chose by me, it is the only tone available. Your ability to overtake put me down. I have learnt to follow and watch others zoom by me.

Less than a month after I have you, your body got scratched by some anonymous jealous prick and never looked new.

Your battery is constantly dry up but I know I should have taken you out more often.

Today you are still less than 22,000. You are rare for your age.

You will soon find someone to take you out everyday to make up loss time.

I will say hi if I ever bump into you.

Goodbye my old trusted horse.
Goodbye.
